What would it really require for humanity to become sustainable?

For example, even if we go all electric in transportation, the footprint for production of those means of transportation is huge. Anything we do is detrimental to sustainability. So what would it require? Degrowth? Depopulation?

I too agree that some level of degrowth is almost inevitable if we want to go sustainable. It's a mathematical fact. That is unless we push forward developing the technology to have clean growth but that would require, between other things, capturing carbon and pollution at all stages of production ...

I think we are so not there yet... Imagine what it would require to shift all the structures of society towards what is shown in that link. Just for the political will, its unattainable.

I like the idea, but from where we are today, we need to go towards more reachable solutions.
