The question is, will we do that in time? For example, estimates range from 20 to 40 years before the tipping point of climate. After that it will fall into a feedback loop. So even if we stopped all emissions, the temperatures will keep rising. 20 years is very short to turn the whole world around....

Let's be honest, we suck at managing our society. We don't really solve issues and only see short term.

We could shift towards a less polluting economy without degrowing. We could shift from consumerism to more education and healthcare, but again, the incentive for the status quo is too powerful to make those changes.

Also, degrowth is intimately linked to depopulation. For the same result on the environment, we can either reduce population or reduce consumption/standard of living for everyone. But I don't think either will be implemented unless the situation becomes overwhelmingly critical (and too late). So I d...

I agree with you, at our level of technology, it seems clean growth is not possible. All human activity creates pollution or greenhouse gases. No matter our efforts in going green, the reality is, the more people there is, the more crap we put out there.

We are already using automation for housing. Can't find the link right now but I think it was in china, they would send a drone to Survey the land, then a truck would come in and pump cement 3d printing style.
